The Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) Charity Relay Run takes place annually in Richards Bay. It started in 1984 and this year marks RBCT’s 27th anniversary in hosting this event.

A highlight on the region’s athletics calendar, the 49.2km relay run is the second largest sporting event in Zululand attracting more than 3 000 runners and walkers and some 7 000 spectators each year. All proceeds raised from this event go towards deserving local charity organisations.

RBCT’s 2008 Charity Relay Run raised in excess of R100 000 for local charities, which in turn, put these annual donations to good use in their respective operations in a range of interventions that have a far-reaching and positive impact in the local communities within which RBCT operates.
